Rangers Earn First Victory At Renovated MSG
The New York Rangers, who played their first seven games on the road, finally earned their first victory at the renovated Madison Square Garden by routing the San Jose Sharks 5-2 behind a pair of goals by Ryan Callahan.
The Sharks can't feel too badly about the defeat as they ended a six-game road trip with a 5-1 mark.
The Rangers led 2-0 in the first period but squandered it to the Sharks, who were trying to complete a sweep of a six-game road trip.
Artem Anisimov also scored in the second after Ryan McDonagh and Derek Stepan had goals in the first. Martin Biron made 24 saves to improve to 2-0 as Henrik Lundqvist's backup.
