It's time for the undead to rest, at least in the case of the New Jersey Zombie Walk.

The New Jersey Zombie Walk was canceled this week after its growing popularity made orchestrating the event and keeping it low-cost increasingly difficult.

Throughout its seven year lifetime, the Zombie Walk grew from just a few friends walking the Asbury Park Boardwalk in costume, to what the Guinness Book of World Records calls the largest gathering of zombies on earth.

Founder and co-director Jason Meehan hopes to hold an October funeral for the event, but in the meantime, here's your chance to mourn the loss of a great Garden State gathering.

As annual attenders, New Jersey 101.5 staff will miss broadcasting amid a sea of gray faces and creepy clothing. What will you miss?
