The Summer Nationals are going on this weekend at Raceway Park in Englishtown. As part of the welcoming festivities they let us media people ride alongside the drivers in cars that went up to 160 miles per hour. It was an amazing rush!

First you must get into your suit which protects you from fire in case of a crash. Then you must get into the car which is not an easy thing if you're not that flexible, which I am not. It takes much more time to prepare you for the quarter mile strip then to actually race it.

During that time I'm thinking, "What am I getting myself into that I have to wear this fireproof suit?" "Why are there not more people doing this?" "Is the station trying to get rid of me?" Will my last hit be like Pink Floyd be "The Wall?" Then without hesitation and just in the nick of time, it was time to put the pedal to the metal — which the guy next to me actually did.

As we went faster and faster I could feel the adrenaline rush through my body and I didn't want it to stop. You wouldn't believe how fast a quarter mile goes!
