You'll have a better sense of the crime picture in your area with a step taken by the New Jersey State Police Uniform Crime Reporting Unit. A link has been placed on the public web site that shows users crime data for counties and municipalities. The data is updated every week.

"This will be a great new tool for the public," said Colonel Rick Fuentes, Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police.

Police note, though, the data is not yet verified. It could be altered at a later date. The revisions will be available each fall with a yearly report. The 2011 Crime in New Jersey report can be found by clicking here.
