TRENTON — An alleged prostitute's claim she visited officers at the Trenton K9 unit has prompted an investigation by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office, according to reports.

"Allegations were made against personnel of our department and per our policy the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office was notified and they are conducting an investigation," Trenton Police spokesman Lt. Detective Stephen Varn told New Jersey 101.5. He would not elaborate on the nature of the investigation..

Prosecutor's Office spokeswoman Casey DiBlasio confirmed the investigation but would not comment further.

6 ABC reported the the woman was jailed on an unrelated offense and asked for help from some of the officers she claimed to have visited as a prostitute. When they didn’t come through for her, she started naming names to police, according to the station's report.

Her visits were caught on video, the station reported.

The Trenton K9 facility is located on East State Street separate from the main police headquarters.
