It’s not all that out of the ordinary to hear stories of police officers who abuse their power.

And perhaps not all that ordinary to hear stories of police who perform acts of bravery in the face of danger.

After all, it’s their job.

So while this may fall in the latter category, still it deserves what I like to call “props to the cops” for saving the life of a scared Chihuahua on a busy highway in northern California.

"This little dog needed some help off I-680 freeway today. We're glad he's safe," the Contra Costa California Highway Patrol tweeted Friday.

Hopefully the story doesn’t end there - and they find the person or people responsible for leaving the dog in the middle of the highway.
