Authorities say a New York man was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving went off a northern New Jersey highway and struck an office building last weekend.

But the cause of the fiery crash in Hasbrouck Heights that killed 33-year-old Jean G. Sanon of Suffern remained under investigation on Wednesday.

Witnesses said Sanon's truck was swerving shortly before the crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. Saturday. He was alone in the vehicle, and no other injuries were reported.

Authorities say the building sustained some fire damage, but no one was inside the structure when the crash occurred.

Sanon worked at the Carlstadt terminal for Land Air Express of New England, a job he had held since March.
