About 3,000 JCP&L customers still without power from the weekend's blustery winds should get their power restored by late Monday night, the power company said..

The company's outage map mid-day showed outages are scattered throughout its service area, but concentrated in Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic and Somerset counties. Those outages were expected to be restored by midnight on Monday night, according to sporkesman Ron Morano.

"We're restored more than 89,000 customers" since the first outages late Saturday, Morano said. The weekend saw winds gusting to nearly 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

"We had hundreds of trees down all over the place," Morano said, adding utility poles that also came down need to be replaced in some cases.

JCP&L is offering free water and ice for those without power at many Acme, Foodtown and Shop Rite locations throughout the state.

PSE&G spokeswoman Karen A. Johnson said that her company was down to its last 300 customers without power as of 8 a.m. on Monday.
