Power outage hits Toms River
Power outages left more than 1,700 JCP&L customers without power in Toms River on the hottest day of the year.
Most power has been restored according to the JCP+L outage map. Toms River Public Information Officer Stacy Proebstle says the outage originated at the Manitou Substation affecting both Berkeley Township and Toms River.
Temperatures reached the low 90s in Toms River on Wednesday.
JCP+L spokeswoman Jackie Espinoza says the utility went to a staged restoration phase in which crews go to the area of the outages in an attempt to isolate a cause.
