NEWARK (AP) — The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey says a former high-ranking official who claims he was pulled off a flight at JFK Airport on Friday has tried to flout airport security on three occasions.

The allegations came Tuesday against Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale, who is suing the agency.

The Port Authority say Friday's incident involved an oversized bag that crews were worried had not been properly screened.

Speziale says he passed through security with the bag and was filing a complaint against an employee when his flight was surrounded by police cars.

A hearing is set for Friday.

Speziale sued the agency last year, claiming it retaliated against him when he reported violations to superiors.
