Port Authority Prepared for Holiday Weekend Travelers
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey expects nearly five million people to use their services by air, car or rail during the upcoming Memorial Day weekend. The agency has measures in place aimed at alleviating stress and frustration for travelers.
To handle the high volume of expected air travelers, an estimated 1.5 million from Friday to Tuesday, additional Customer Care Representatives will be placed at local airports during peak hours.
With approximately 3.2 million travelers expected to use the agency's bridges and tunnels, a full complement of toll collectors will be on duty. Still, motorists are encouraged to allow extra time for their planned trips.
Additional PATH trains will be available as needed on Friday. PATH will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday.
