Does spanking or “whooping” your child really work as a punishment? If you were reared that way when you were growing up, did it work for you? Vikings running back Adrian Peterson , charged with injury to a child because he allegedly used a switch to spank his son, will be reinstated by the team after being deactivated last week.

When the story came out Friday, there were those who reacted with the tales of how it isn’t so bad and how they were raised that way and look how they turned out, but when you then learn that it was a 4-year-old boy and you see the pictures you realize just how far Peterson had gone.

The bible says “spare the rod spoil the child”  Peterson, a Christian definitely went too far.

But from a different perspective, do you feel that spanking, hitting or a good back in the day “beaten” made a difference in your life if you were raised that way? As someone who was raised that way, the only thing I can say is that for me it didn’t work. Once I realized I could take the punishment, I wasn’t afraid to commit the “crime” for lack of a better word.

Were you hit as a child?
