This sounds like a case for Judge Judy!

A former Long Branch councilwoman and her mom are fighting long distance over who should keep a Chihuahua that the councilwoman claims her mom had given to her – only to be accused of having stolen it from her mom.

Former councilwoman Jackeline Biddle Shuler of Long Branch, is attempting to take ownership of the dog from her mother, Isabel Cotto, who lives in Puerto Rico.

Turns out the mother has had the dog but found it to be unsociable, and agreed to give the dog to Biddle when she first saw the dog at Cotto's home in Puerto Rico.

Biddle in turn invited Cotto to visit her in Long Branch this past June with the dog.
Upon arriving, Cotto reportedly said, “here’s your dog” handing off the Chihuahua named “Bobby” to Biddle with a carrying case.

According to Biddle’s lawyer, Biddle paid for Cotto’s airfare as well as the vet’s bill for the dog – which amounted to around $700.

However about a month later, Cotto changed her mind and lodged a complaint with the Long Branch police department saying Biddle had stolen the dog from her.

Cotto has retained an attorney as well.

If I were the doily wearing justice, I’d probably ask probing questions of the mom as to whether or not Cotto told her daughter she could have the dog – then ask Biddle if she had the vet’s bill.

Judgment would go to the daughter – but then again, I’m not Judge Judy.

And by the looks of it, the only one’s getting rich are the lawyers.

Who do you think should get the dog?
