Police have arrested a suspect following a fatal stabbing inside an upstate New York supermarket.

New Windsor Town Police Sgt. Stephen Sager said in a release that 35-year-old Andrew Goodenough was arrested inside a ShopRite supermarket Saturday morning.

He's facing a second-degree murder charge. The name of an attorney to comment wasn't immediately available.

Police say they found a 35-year-old man stabbed and unconscious inside the store at about 9:40 a.m. The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police didn't release the victim's name, pending notification of kin.

Goodenough was arrested about an hour later. Police are investigating a motive.

ShopRite said in statement it closed the store Saturday so that workers could be with their families. It hopes to reopen on Sunday.
