Police shoot, kill man in Elizabeth
ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities are investigating a police-involved shooting in Elizabeth that left a man dead.
The Union County Prosecutor's Office says an officer on Sunday found 44-year-old John DelValle holding a 49-year-old woman at knifepoint on Union Avenue.
Authorities say during an altercation, the officer fired a single shot. DelValle was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither the woman nor the 23-year veterans of the police department was injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
