The New Jersey State Police are asking for the public's help as they attempt to locate the driver involved in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 53-year-old woman in Port Norris, Cumberland County.

According to a press release, the crash occurred Monday at 10:30 p.m. in the northbound lane of North Avenue in Port Norris. The victim, Sandra Gross, was struck by an unidentified vehicle, police said.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, detectives have determined that the victim was lying in the northbound lane at the time she was struck.  She was pronounced deceased at the scene," NJ State Police said in their press release.

Police are investigating the accident and attempting to locate the driver for questioning.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Port Norris Barracks of the NJSP at 856-785-0036. Police will also welcome anonymous tips.
