JERSEY CITY (AP) — Two toddlers found wandering on a Jersey City street this weekend were unharmed and have been reunited with their parents.

Jersey City police found the children, ages 1 and 3, around 6:45 a.m. Saturday after a caller reported the kids were by themselves, walking on the sidewalk near McAdoo Avenue.

Officers combed the area and found a nearby home with the front door open.

The father of the toddlers, who was found sleeping on the home's second floor, told authorities that his wife had likely left the front door open when she had left for work around 6 a.m.

The children appeared to be in good health, and no charges have been filed. But authorities notified the state's Children and Families Division, who will investigate the incident.
