Numerous charges have been filed against a Bayonne mom accused of leaving her 3-year-old daughter home alone and then fleeing the scene of an accident she allegedly caused while driving drunk.

Bayonne police tell The Jersey Journal  that 41-year-old Ana Castro wasn’t seriously injured in the two-car crash, which occurred around 8:20 p.m. Sunday. Officers found her a short time later sitting in her parked car, which had sustained heavy damage.

Castro soon told police she had left her daughter home alone. Officers then went to the residence and found the crying child, who was unharmed.

Castro faces charges of cruelty and neglect of a child, drunken driving and numerous motor vehicle offenses.

A telephone number for Castro could not be found Monday.
