BUENA VISTA TOWNSHIP — State police say a man was struck and critically injured by a vehicle on his birthday in what appears to be an intentional hit-and-run.

Patrick Pearcy was struck around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot of Buena Regional High School in Buena Vista Township. The 25-year-old Vineland man was flown to a hospital and remained in critical but stable condition on Wednesday.

Desmond Fummey, a 21-year-old Mays Landing resident who allegedly was driving the SUV, was arrested Wednesday. He's charged with aggravated assault, leaving the scene of an accident, tampering with evidence and endangering the welfare of an injured person.

It wasn't known if Fummey has retained an attorney.

A state police spokesman says the matter is believed it to be "intentional incident," but did not provide further details.
