Residents returning to their apartment complex in Atlantic Highlands Tuesday night were kept from their homes as police investigated a situation in which a person was apparently barricaded inside a condominium.

The incident took place at the King James Court complex. Police closed off the entrance to the complex for a few hours as authorities investigated. NJ.com reports that officers with automatic guns could be seen pointing the guns at a window.


"Officers from Middletown, Fair Haven and Atlantic Highlands were also at the scene. At around 8:15 p.m., officers could be seen exiting one of the apartment units and leaving the scene," NJ.com reported.

No additional information was available about the subject or why the person was barricaded inside the condo.
