ELIZABETH — Police are investigating the shooting death of a 61-year-old man whose body was discovered early Monday morning.

Authorities say officers from the Elizabeth police Department responded to the area of Walnut and Anna streets Monday to investigate the discovery of a body. When they arrived, they located Robert Rouse, who was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering a fatal gunshot wound, according to a statement from Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park.

Elizabeth police and members of the Union County Homicide Task Force, Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit and the Unit County Ballistics Unit are investigating the death of Rouse.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Homicide Task Force Sgt. Jose Vendas at 908-358-3048 or Detective Juan Velarde at 908-418-7066.

In addition, the prosecutor said a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction is being offered by Union County Crime Stoppers.
