Authorities say a 22-year-old Hackensack man was arrested after it was discovered that he had two videos on his cell phone that allegedly depicted him inappropriately touching a young girl on intimate parts of her body.

Jefferson Gonzalez faces charges of second degree assault by sexual contact as well as a third degree charge of endangering the welfare of a child, according to Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.

Authorities said the discovery came while police were conducting a narcotics investigation Friday that ultimately led to the arrest of Gonzalez. During the course of the investigation, a "consent search" of the man's phone allegedly "revealed two videos of Gonzalez inappropriately touching a young female on intimate parts of her body," the prosecutor said in a statement Monday.

Hackensack Police, along with the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit, identified the girl and determined that she was younger than 13 years old. Police say the video was made at a residence in Hackensack.

Gonzalez was charged on Saturday with child endangerment and sexual assault by sexual contact. He is being held in Bergen County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bail with no 10 percent option, the prosecutor said. In addition, as a condition of his bail, authorities say he is prohibited from having contact with the victim, her family or anyone younger than 18 years old.
