Ocean County prosecutors say 22-year-old Nicholas Ippolito of Point Pleasant is charged with first-degree drug-induced death and second-degree manslaughter. He was notified of the charges on Friday at the Ocean County Jail, where he has been held since last month on a parole violation charge

Prosecutors say Ippolito was linked to the Dec. 19 death of Joseph Piezzo, a 25-year-old Brick man who died last December from a reaction to prescription drugs and heroin.

Ippolito's bail on the new charges was set at $200,000 cash, and it was not known Saturday if he has retained an attorney.
