[/caption]Authorities are probing the fatal beating of a man found outside a Pleasantville restaurant, the third slaying that has occurred in the southern New Jersey city over the past five days.

Twenty-year-old Daniel Aguilar of Somers Point was found stabbed and beaten early Tuesday in a parking lot. Police believe he was attacked with a baseball bat, but the investigation by the Atlantic County prosecutor's office is ongoing and further details were not disclosed.

Officials don't believe the slaying is connected to the fatal shootings of two Atlantic City men whose bodies were found early Friday on a city street. Authorities say the shootings may have been gang-related.

There were only three homicides reported in Pleasantville in 2011.
