Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a Pleasantville man Sunday afternoon.

Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced in a press release Monday that the victim, Equallie M. Bumpass, 36, of North 4th Street in Pleasantville was the victim of multiple gunshot wounds.

On Sunday at 1:29 p.m., Pleasantville police responded to the 300-block of East Greenfield Avenue in response to a 911 call. When they arrived at the location, they found the body of Bumpass and contacted emergency medical services.

"Bumpass was transported by paramedics to the Regional Trauma Center at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center—City Division. Bumpass succumbed to his wounds at the hospital, and was pronounced dead at 2:48 p.m," the prosecutor said in a press release. "Next-of-kin have been notified. An autopsy is scheduled for today."

An investigation is being conducted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Pleasantville Police Department.
