Police Capt. Tibor Kacso tells The Star-Ledger of Newark the bus had 41 students on it when it struck a van broadside shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday at an intersection in Perth Amboy near the Raritan Bay Medical Center. Kacso says all 41 students were taken to the hospital.

Thirty-five of them were taken in for evaluation, and six were treated for non-serious injuries.

A passenger on the bus was also treated at the hospital for neck pain.

Kacso says the students were heading to Flynn Elementary School when the accident occurred.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
