Penns Grove baby sitter charged in child’s death
PENNS GROVE, N.J. (AP) — Bail is set at $1 million for a Penns Grove baby sitter accused of killing a 4-year-old he was watching.
The Salem County prosecutor's office has charged 43-year-old Michael Oliver with murder, manslaughter, aggravated assault and child endangerment.
Prosecutor John Lenahan tells the South Jersey Times police responded to a report of an unresponsive child on Wednesday and found the girl in cardiac arrest. The girl died little more than an hour later at a hospital.
Lenahan says an autopsy showed the child died after suffering a lacerated liver from blunt force trauma.
Lenahan says Oliver was also watching three other children, who were unharmed.
