A pedestrian was struck on Route 73 in Maple Shade Saturday morning closing the road for about two hours, according to authorities.

Maple Shade Police said a person was hit around 5 a.m. at Fox Meadow Road on the southbound side across from the Fox Meadow Apartments. 6 ABC reported the person was struck by a tractor trailer but police would not confirm what type of vehicle was involved.

The pedestrian, whose identity was not disclosed by police, was taken to the trauma center at Cooper University Hospital for serious injuries.

The road was reopened around 7 a.m. The accident is still under investigation. More information will be released as it becomes available.
