Police say a woman escaped serious injuries after jumping in front of a commuter train in New Jersey.

Port Authority Police spokesman Al Della Fave says the woman landed in the middle of the track as a PATH train rolled over her near the Grove Street station in Jersey City Thursday.

Della Fave says emergency services officers found the woman in a pocket that was deep enough that she did not sustain life-threatening injuries.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was taken to Jersey City Medical Center.

The incident halted service to the Grove Street Station.
