NJ man got into more trouble by trying to lie his way out of traffic stop, cops say
UNION TOWNSHIP (HUNTERDON) — A traffic stop went from bad to worse for a Paterson man when he tried to lie his way out of the situation.
State Police said that when Veljko Kitanovski, 65, of Paterson, was stopped on Route 78 on Monday he told the state trooper he was an undercover officer for the Paterson Police Department.
The story fell apart when a check of Kitanovski's record came back that he was driving with a suspended license, according to police, who said Kitanovski did not have the credentials to back his claim.
Kitanovski was arrested and charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer and released pending a court appearance.
