Authorities say Andy Javier Torres Martinez was through Millville around 6:30 a.m. Monday when he saw the blaze. Millville Rescue Squad Chief John Redden tells The Daily Journal that Martinez saw several people streaming out of the house.

The family, speaking English, told Martinez, who speaks mostly Spanish, that one boy was still inside. He went into the flaming house and emerged with the child.

Authorities are uncertain which boy he rescued.

Both 5-year-old James Pierce and 3-year-old Brad Pierce were flown to Cooper University Hospital in Camden for burns and respiratory difficulties.

Martinez was also treated for smoke inhalation.
