A one-car crash on the Garden State Parkway this morning that left the driver dead is under a lengthy investigation by New Jersey State Police.

As of 12 Noon, Lieutenant Steve Jones in Trenton could verify only that the victim was a woman, and that the blue Hyundai that careened off the northbound lanes into trees near Exit 91 is registered to a woman from Toms River.

Jones explained that removing the victim from the car occupied most of the time since the crash just after 8:30 A.M. The car overturned in the course of the collision, pinning the victim inside.

Witnesses told state troopers that there seemed to be no contributing factors, and that the car simply veered off the road at full speed.
