The Parsippany-Troy East Little League team re-discovered the power in their bats and overwhelmed the Northwest Region champions from Gresham, Oregon 10-4 to stay alive in the Little League World Series Tournament.

Leadoff hitter Emil Matti hit two solo homers  to center, including a blast to lead off the game that caromed off the top of the brick wall beyond the fence 225 feet away.

 

Trailing 5-0 in the second, Oregon cut it to 5-4 in the third on Tyler Linch's two-run single. But Linch was later tagged out at home after trying to score the
potential tying run on a grounder to second.

Reliever Kyle Phillips quieted Oregon the rest of the way with four shutout innings.

Governor Christie tweeted his congratulations on the win. "Great win by our NJ boys from Parsippany @ LLWS over Oregon. Congrats boys--let's get ready for the next challenge. NJ is so proud of you," he said.

Par-Troy East plays the team from Goodlettsville Tennessee on Monday at 4 p.m. which can be seen on ESPN3.com.
