OCEANPORT — Now closed for six years, Fort Monmouth is letting go of possibly thousands of souvenirs and memorabilia. And you're invited to become the new owner.

A liquidation sale and mini auction, open to the public, are scheduled for Saturday at the shuttered Army installation, which spans Tinton Falls, Eatontown and Oceanport.

"We're giving people the opportunity get a little piece of Fort Monmouth," said Peter Costanzo with The Auctioneers Group in Neptune City.

Commemorative fort photos, framed maps of the base, event banners, flags and street signs are on the list of smaller items up for grabs. Appliances, pianos, oak church pews and hand tools will also be available for purchase.

The "garage sale" portion runs from 10 a.m. to noon, featuring items priced from $2 to $25. Costanzo said the auction segment, starting at noon, will feature 20 of the more desirable items, such as new ovens and a Coke machine.

Complimentary Fort Monmouth books and hats will be handed out to visitors, while supplies last. Buyers are encouraged to bring singles and five-dollar bills.

Visitors are advised to follow auction signs after using the "Razor Gate Entrance" in Oceanport.
