BRIDGEWATER — A truck that overturned in the township's Finderne neighborhood during the Wednesday morning commute caused issues for most of the day and into the evening.

Police said after 7 p.m. that residents near the intersection of Union and Finderne avenues should continue to shelter in place, shut windows and keep air conditioners off.

Bridgewater Police said the truck owned by Solid Logistics LLC of Newark was heading west on Union Avenue, hit a traffic light while making a left turn onto Finderne Avenue around 9 a.m. and rolled over onto the passenger side.

Police said a "corrosive liquid" spilled onto the roadway, but did not say what the chemical was.

The Somerset County Hazardous Material has been helping with the cleanup.

The intersection is just west of Route 287 and expect the intersection to be closed off into the evening.

Police released a map highlighting the area where residents should continue to keep windows closed and the air conditioner off.
