NEW BRUNSWICK — The Wednesday morning commute got off to a potentially nightmarish start with the closure of a key ramp.

An overturned tractor trailer closed the ramp from Route 18 north to Route 1 south in New Brunswick. Route 1 south  around 3 a..m. according to New Brunswick Police spokesman Captain J.T. Miller, who said the ramp was reopened just before 6 a.m. after debris from the truck that fell onto the highway was cleaned up.

The ramp from Route 18 reopened just before 7 a.m.

Miller said that the driver of truck, whose identity was not disclosed, suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

The ramp was recently replaced by the New Jersey Department of Transportation, to create a curve that was not as sharp to better accommodate trucks.
