NJ101.5 has partnered with local animal rescue organizations EASEL Animal Rescue League and Friends of EMAS (Edison Municipal Animal Shelter) to feature adoptable local pets in need of homes. Help us find these pets homes by sharing this information with family members and friends who may be interested in adopting a shelter pet.

Adopt Oscar

Oscar is a handsome cat who was found in a box at a local veterinary hospital. We don't€™ understand why anyone would dump such a friendly, affectionate and gentle cat like Oscar, but we are happy to have this lover-boy in our care and hope to find him the home he deserves very soon! Oscar came to the shelter with a bad respiratory infection, but he's feeling much better now. Everyone just loves this sweet boy. He's neutered, vaccinated and FIV/FeLV negative. Oscar has only one thing on his Christmas list and that is a family to love!

If you're interested in meeting Oscar or fostering/adopting him, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable cats from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Blanca

Blanca is a Pit Bull mix who was found wandering in Somerset County and brought to the Ewing Animal Shelter. We think she is deaf, but Blanca does respond to commands through non-verbal communication. Blanca can be reactive to small dogs, but we have introduced her to big dogs at the shelter and she’s fine around them. For the most part, Blanca is a very relaxed dog. She pulls on her leash if you let her, but will take correction and walk nicely. Blanca has been with us since February and would love to find a home.

If you’re interested in learning more about Blanca or to schedule a visit, email dogs@easelnj.org. Find more of EASEL’s adoptable dogs and puppies here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

Adopt Toby

Toby is the newest member of the Edison Animal Shelter family and is ready to be adopted. He came in as a stray, and we were so excited to find that he had a microchip, but the chip wasn't registered so we haven't been able to locate his owner. Toby is a sweet Beagle with the glossiest black fur on his back and cute little freckles on the white part of his fur. When he first goes outside for a walk, he pulls a little on the leash, but after that, he trots like a pro. Toby loves walks so if you like to take long walks and want to get in shape, he is the perfect walking buddy to help you burn off those extra calories! He's not your typical nose to the ground sniffing Beagle. As he walks, he keeps his head up to look around and only sniffs some of the time. Toby enjoys attending adoption events at PetSmart in Edision, and he especially loves greeting all the people. Toby does well with the dogs that come into the store with only an occasional bark here and there. At the end of a busy day at PetSmart, Toby looks into your eyes with gratefulness and appreciation, goes into his bed and falls fast asleep.

If you're interested in meeting Toby or fostering/adopting him, please email us at EAS@edisonnj.org. You can see more adoptable dogs from Friends of EMAS here or download a PDF copy of the application form here.

“Hello, everyone. What a bright and sunny day it is!” If Sunshine could talk, this is what she would probably say because this little girl is always looking on the bright side of life. Sunshine is a small, orange tabby cat. She is incredibly friendly and affectionate around people and she loves a good scratch under the chin. The perfect day in Sunshine’s world would consist of some love, cuddles and attention from her forever family.  Will you be the ray of sunshine in this pretty kitty’s life and adopt her into your forever home?

To schedule a visit to meet Sunshine, please email kitty@easelnj.org or call 609-883-0540. You can find more of EASEL’s adoptable cats and kittens here, or download a PDF copy of the application form here.
