A Pennsauken man fatally shot a 21-year-old man from the township, authorities said Saturday

Isaiah Pascall, 23, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Joshua Simmons. A physical altercation involving an "isolated group of individuals" took place on Russell Avenue on Monday, leading to the shooting, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said.

It didn't say who else was involved in the altercation, or what prompted it.

Merchantville Police were dispatched to the area at approximately 8:31 p.m. on Monday for a report of an unconscious person, the prosecutor's office said. Officers arrived and located Simmons lying on the sidewalk, suffering from a gunshot wound, it said. Simmons was transported to Kennedy Hospital in Cherry Hill, where he was
pronounced deceased at 9:07 p.m., the prosecutor's office said.

Pascall was arrested and charged Friday night following an interview with detectives at the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, the office said. He was remanded to the Camden County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail pending a future arraignment date.
