Officials say the student was targeted at school, on the school bus and online for his perceived sexual orientation and, in some cases, his Jewish faith.

Under terms of the settlement, Old Bridge schools will have and distribute to all staff, parents and students written anti-discrimination policies, complaint procedures and policies on student harassment, intimidation and bullying.

The district also will implement a bias-based harassment prevention program that includes an awareness component for all students at the middle and high school levels.

The district will also pay the Civil Rights Division $15,000.
