Officials: 2 Made False Bomb Threats At Newark Airport

Authorities say an Israeli citizen and a northern New Jersey man made false bomb threats during separate incidents at Newark Liberty International airport.

The Star-Ledger reports the first incident occurred just before 10 a.m. Sunday.

Authorities say 44-year-old Evan Hess of Tel Aviv became angry upon learning there were no available seats on his connecting flight, even though his checked bag was loaded onto the plane. He then allegedly claimed his bag had a bomb in it.

Hess left the area before police arrived, but was soon found in another terminal and arrested.

In the other incident Sunday, 35-year-old Thomas Foley III of Hoboken allegedly stated at a checkpoint that he had a bomb in his shoe.

Both men were charged with making a false public alarm.
