While we were all watching (and posting and tweeting) about the protests NFL players held before the game, did anyone notice the monumental act of disrespect proffered during the Giants/Eagles game?

I am talking, of course, about Big Blue’s resident doofus, Odell Beckham, Jr. The NFL has loosened the restrictions on touchdown celebrations this season after being accused of being the No Fun League, but I don’t think this is what they envisioned. After scoring a touchdown, OBJ mimed being a dog, dropping to all fours and walking several steps before stopping, lifting his leg, and pretended to pee on the field.

He was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, so he hurt his team because of the penalty and hurt its reputation by his sophomoric antics. He’s a classic example of an athlete with a million dollar talent and a ten cent brain. I don’t have a problem with athletes celebrating after they score, even though it is their job, but OBJ’s dog urinating act was an excessive “hey, look at me!” moment. Beckham is undeniably a great player, so why isn’t that enough for him? He vaguely alluded to it being related to President Trump’s comments in Alabama on Friday regarding firing players who don’t stand for the national anthem, but I doubt he was making a political statement.

Twelve years ago, Randy Moss was fined $10,000 for pretending to “moon” the crowd at Lambeau Field. let’s hope OBJ gets more than that.
