Ocean County’s Sandy Recovery Survey [AUDIO]

Ocean County health officials have launched an online survey in an effort to get a grasp on the needs that remain after Superstorm Sandy.

County Health Department spokesperson Leslie Terjesen said the information they gather will be used to create a long-term health and well-being recovery plan for county residents.

“The importance of the survey is to make sure resources are still being utilized, as well as finding out what needs to occur to provide Ocean County the best access to recovery needs,” Terjesen said.

She said it will also be used to determine what residents know about the kinds of services that are available, including 2-1-1 and the “We Care” program.

“The state calls it New Jersey Register Ready, but in Ocean County we call it the We Care program,” Terjesen said. “It’s through the sheriff’s department, where if people are elderly or if people are disabled, they can register within their township and if for some reason they need to be evacuated, the sheriff’s department has your name, your address, your phone number.”

The survey can be found on the health department’s home page, under the “Breaking News” category. Click on “Superstorm Sandy Well-Being Survey for Ocean County Residents.”
