A Sussex County animal sanctuary will be the ultimate destination of a cow that escaped from a Queens slaughterhouse.

"Freddie" the cow, named after the late Queen lead singer, ran down Jamaica Avenue after escaping the Archer Halal Live Poultry on Thursday, and was captured in a parking garage according to DNAinfo.com. The 1-year-old was headed back to slaughter house again when Mike Stura, owner of Skylands Animal Sanctuary in Wantage, made the drive to plead for the cow's life according to the New York Daily News.

"I impressed upon (Freddie's owner) several times that 38 billion cattle go to the food industry," Stura told the newspaper. "It's nice if one lives once in a while."

Freedie will have a chance at a long life at Skylands which described itself as "rescuing, rehabilitating, advocating on behalf of, and providing lifelong homes for animals" on its Facebook page.
