VINELAND — When police first received word that the Burger King on N. Delsea Drive had been robbed late Thursday night they were unable to find the suspect before making an arrest not long after.

According to the police department the store was robbed around 10 p.m. on Thursday when a masked man with a handgun had demanded cash from the safe from a cashier. He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries reported and despite an initial investigation that included the use of a K-9 unit the suspect could not be found at first.

The police said they were eventually able to identify two suspects, 22-year-old Anibal Gonzalez, and a 17-year-old who were arrested on Saturday and charged with robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. In addition, Gonzalez was charged with possession of a weapon for the handgun, unlawful possession of a weapon, and employing a juvenile.

The Vineland Police Department is asking anyone with information about the case to call them at 856-691-4111 ext. 4180 or the Crime Stoppers line at 856-691-0345. Information can also be texted to 847411.
