Authorities say a Bloomfield public school teacher uploaded child pornography to the Internet both from his Morris County home and from district computers.

Nicholas K. Schumacher, 29, of Randolph, has been charged with one second-degree count of endangering the welfare of a child (for distribution of child pornography), and one third-degree count of the same (for possession of child pornography), according to an announcement from the Morris County Prosecutor's Office.

The prosecutor's office said the investigation began when it got information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children implicating Schumacher — showing that child pornography was uploaded from IP addresses at his home and work, and using his email address.

Bloomfield school officials could not be immediately reached Monday afternoon. According to cached versions of Bloomfield Berkeley elementary school website, he was a vocal music teacher, though current versions of the same pages omit his name.

According to his own publicly viewable Facebook page, Schumacher is also a former music teacher for the Dover school district in Morris County.

According to the prosecutor's office, on Friday, Randolph Municipal Court Judge Ira Cohen set Schumacher's bail at $75,000 with no 10 percent option. Conditions of that bail include no contact with children under the age of 16, no possession of firearms, and surrender of the defendant’s passport. At an emergent bail hearing before the Judge William McGovern,  bail was later reduced to $50,000, though all other bail conditions remain.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Detective James Bruno of the Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office at 973-285-6200.
