Jury deliberations went on for a third day without a verdict in the case of a New Jersey attorney charged in the murder of a federal informant.

Paul Bergrin represented himself at trial against charges of murder conspiracy and aiding and abetting the murder of a witness.

The case went to a jury in Newark federal court on Wednesday. Deliberations will resume Monday.

The Newark-based attorney was once a well-known criminal defense lawyer who handled a roster of celebrity clients and many clients facing drug-related charges.

Prosecutors have sought to portray Bergrin as a participant in his clients' illegal activities.

Bergrin and several alleged associates were arrested in 2009 and charged with running a racketeering enterprise that specialized in drugs, prostitution and witness tampering. Those charges will be tried separately.
