It's not exactly the first impression of New Jersey that officials were hoping Super Bowl goers will get to see.

The Record newspaper reports that the multi-colored exterior of a stalled mega-mall project next to Metlife Stadium will not be covered over in time for the Feb. 2, 2014 Super Bowl.

The mall's garish exterior, which is visible from the New Jersey Turnpike, once moved Gov. Christie to call it "possibly the ugliest building in America."

Ralph Marra of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority says workers will soon run into cold weather issues in renovating the exterior.

The developers have acknowledged that the sprawling complex would not open in time for the game, but Christie has said he hoped at least the exterior would be redone.
