Police said there was no sign of forced entry to the home of 3-year-old Brendan Creato or indication of sexual assault on his body, which was found along the Cooper River in Haddon Township over a week ago.

In a statement issued Wednesday, a day before funeral services for the boy, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo said that results of the autopsy remain pending although the initial results did not show cause or manner of death. The investigation by the Prosecutor's Office and Haddon Township Police is ongoing.

The lack of updates from Colalillo or police has residents on edge.

“We’re just nervous and we’d like to know some answers,” resident Lori Bonrisco told NBC 10. “Halloween’s coming and we’re debated whether to even let the kids go trick-or-treating.” Colatillo said that "both agencies are aware of the public’s concerns. We appreciate the community’s cooperation."

Richard J. Fuschino, the attorney for Brendan's father DJ Creato said that from his discussions with investigators, his client is not a suspect in the case.

"Mr. Creato is just trying to get through this one day at a time; this awful tragedy, this funeral and living the rest of his life without his pride and joy," the attorney said.

Fuschino believes that police are doing "everything they can to get to the bottom of this sad and tragic mystery and I hope they are able to put the pieces together." He urges anyone with information to come forward to police.

The South Jersey Times reports a private service will be held on Thursday for Brendan No details of the service were released by the funeral home at the direction of the family.
