A reported  fire on the 88th floor of 1 World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan turns out to be a false alarm.

Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which owns the site, says the fire report was called in by a member of the public Wednesday and is believed to be a false alarm. The report was thought to be related to welding at One Word Trade Center.

Twitter accounts of the fire indicated no fire or smoke was visible.

The FDNY received a call of a fire in the tower, but found no active fire upon arrival. The call about the fire was received around 8AM.
