Even though he has stated that he only campaigns for candidates with a chance to win, Gov. Chris Christie heads back to New Hampshire to support a candidate trailing badly in the polls.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Walt Havenstein is nearly 20 points behind incumbent Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan.

Christie drew criticism earlier in the summer when he failed to stump for New York's GOP candidate, Rob Astorino. He responded by saying the Republican Governor's Association does not invest in 'lost causes.'

Astorino trails incumbent Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo by 30 points.

"I will spend time in places where we have a chance to win. I said that right from the beginning," Christie said.

So why New Hampshire then?

Not-so-ironically, the state is the site of the first-in-the-nation presidential primary.
